Plan your new sofa budget

With everyone spending more time at home than usual this summer, 2020 could be the perfect time to update your living room and invest in a new sofa.

Travel restrictions mean lots of people are doing without their usual holiday abroad during August. Why not put the money you save to good use and buy something comfortable you can really relax and unwind on.

But what things should you consider when planning your budget for buying a sofa or suite?

  1. Material matters

One of the main factors which will influence the final price of your sofa is the material it is covered in. Fabric options are usually more affordable than leather, which is a more expensive material. However, all leathers are not made equal and different grades of leather will have different price tags. At La-Z-Boy UK, we use offer a range of leather options, arranged in the swatches section of our website in grade and price order from low to high. For example, our Tutti leather is extremely durable and affordable, while our Dolce leather is more expensive but softer to the touch.

  1. Relax and recline?

Consider whether you will be happy with a static sofa or armchair or whether you would rather pay a bit more for one which reclines. If you do decide to go for a recliner, expect to pay more for a power recliner, which you can operate at the touch of a button. Manual recliners tend to cost less and use a lever or latch to move them into their different positions.

  1. Look out for promotions

If you’re trying to keep the cost of buying a new sofa down, it is worth looking out for stores holding sales or promotions. Many of the independent retailers which stock La-Z-Boy UK products run special offers during the summer months so you can save money and still get exactly what you are looking for. 1. Consider corners

If you need plenty of seating for friends and family, it may be worth looking into corner units. While corner sofas are a big investment, they often work out better value than buying several pieces of furniture. Corner units can help you make the most of the space you have and can be customised with additional seats if needed to suit your individual needs.

  1. Fancy a footstool?

When working out how much you want to spend on a sofa or suite of furniture, don’t forget to think about whether you will want a matching footstool. Footstools aren’t just great for putting your feet up, they can be used as additional seats when you have guests over and some even double up as a storage unit to help you keep your living room nice and tidy.

  1. Check out the outlet

If you are on a budget but keen not to scrimp on quality, La-Z-Boy’s online outlet store might be able to help. Our outlet sells products you won’t find in high street stores at great value prices. This may include items from cancelled orders or end of the line models. Our outlet pieces may be cheaper than you’d expect to pay elsewhere but every chair or sofa comes with the La-Z-Boy 10 year limited warranty as standard. However, be aware that our online outlet only includes a small selection from our collection so if you have a particular style or colour in mind, you will be better off browsing our full range.

Designed and Manufactured in Britain

The Made in Britain campaign is a movement designed to bring together the manufacturing community in the UK, awarding companies who manufacture their products in Britain a collective mark we can use on our products and communications.

The mark proudly demonstrates La-Z-Boy’s commitment to supporting the local economy and community.

You can identify our UK manufactured products by the Made in Britain flag on the product’s photos.

We launch new ranges throughout the year, so be sure to follow us on social media and check back to keep up-to-date with our new products.
