La-Z-Boy UK is proud to be the principal sponsor at a charity golf event to raise money for those connected with the furniture industry who need a helping hand.
The Scottish Furniture Trades Benevolent Association (SFTBA) has been giving financial support to families in need since 1910. The charity helps those who are working or have worked in the Scottish furniture trade but have fallen on hard times and need extra support.
The SFTBA annual golf outing, which takes place on Thursday at Deer Park Golf Club in Livingston, is one of the charity’s main fundraising events and La-Z-Boy UK was delighted to be asked to be the main sponsor.
This is the second time we have sponsored the event and we are also sponsoring the hole in one competition where golfers can win a car worth £25,000 if they manage to finish the 10th hole in a single shot.
Mark Draper, managing director for La-Z-Boy UK, said: “As one of the most recognised furniture brands in the world, it’s an honour for La-Z-Boy UK to be the principal sponsor of this renowned and long-running event, in aid of a fantastic cause. The SFTBA does tremendous work helping out people in need throughout our furniture industry and we’re proud to support them.”
The SFTBA golf day usually takes place every year but wasn’t able to be held in 2020 due to the Covid-19 pandemic. This means organisers are even more keen than usual for the event to be a huge success.
The SFTBA recognises the huge impact Covid-19 has had on those connected to the furniture industry and has created a £100,000 Covid relief fund for 2021. In recent months, it has given out grants to help people pay utility bills, council tax and rent arrears and to assist in the purchase of necessary household items like fridges, cookers and riser recliner chairs.
