Team members turned up to work at the brand’s headquarters in Maidenhead wearing pink to enjoy tea, coffee and biscuits. The event was held to mark Breast Cancer Awareness Month, which took place throughout October.
In the UK, almost 11,500 people die from breast cancer every year and more than 56,000 people will receive a diagnosis. It is not all bad news though as 76% of people with breast cancer live for more than 10 years after finding out they have the disease.
Research carried out into breast cancer, funded by events to raise awareness and other donations, can help increase the likelihood of survival and improve the treatment options available. According to Cancer Research UK, 23% of breast cancer cases in the UK are preventable.
There are a number of lifestyle changes you can make to reduce the risk of developing breast cancer in the first place, including losing weight and reducing alcohol consumption. But one of the most important things in helping people survive breast cancer is early detection.
Regularly checking your breasts and looking out for anything new or unusual is crucial. And if you see or feel something that doesn’t seem quite right, don’t be afraid to go to your GP for advice.
One in seven women in the UK will be diagnosed with breast cancer during their lifetime. And men should also pay attention to changes in their body too as 370 British men are diagnosed with the disease every year.
